Kaiponohea Hale, a native of Pauoa, Oʻahu, is a 1968 graduate of Kamehameha Schools and has worked in the field of education for over 42 years.  After a few years of teaching music at the Honpa Hongwanji Mission School and Pālolo Elementary School, he began working at Kamehameha Schools as a cultural resource specialist for the Hawaiian Studies Institute’s Nā Pono Hawaiʻi traveling program in 1979.  He later served as its director from 1999 to 2005 before becoming the director of the Curriculum Support and Dissemination Branch of Kamehameha Schools’ Program Support Division until 2012.  Kaipo is currently the Senior Project Manager for Hawaiian Culture and Language Integration with the Kamehameha Schools – Preschools, and has supported the development, design and dissemination of numerous culture-based curricula and learning resources for teachers, educators, families and community groups.  He is fluent in both the Spanish and Hawaiian languages and is an accomplished musician, composer, and has entertained in various venues throughout Japan, Canada, China, and Europe.
